Council Liaison and Community Engagement Specialist

Administrative Staff

POSITION SUMMARY:  This administrative support position primarily acts as a liaison to the Sunbury City Council and its committees and provides administrative support to the City Administrator and other staff.  As such, this position is responsible for maintaining Sunbury's archive of records and responding to requests for public records.  This position also serves as a community engagement specialist providing social media outreach and website management of the City’s online platforms, assists residents with the rental of public facilities, and supports other high-profile, community-planned, and city-supported events.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.  The minimum qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or acceptable equivalency diploma.  An Associate degree or higher level of education or certification as a municipal clerk will be preferred. 

At least three years of experience as a communications professional and/or executive administrative assistant with thorough knowledge of office terminology, procedures, and equipment, and a valid state driver’s license are also required.

COMPENSATION.  Pay for this position is currently capped at $25.00 per hour.  Starting pay for the qualified individual will begin at $18.00 per hour or higher, plus benefits, based on qualifications.

WORK SCHEDULE.   Regular 40-hour work schedule, weekdays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a half-hour lunch.  The ability to work evening hours at least twice a month is expected to support City Council and its committees.  There is an opportunity to flex the regular work schedule on weeks where an evening meeting is planned.
