[ARCHIVED] Fall Tree Planting

Screenshot (38)

Sunbury has contracted with DLL Landscaping and Tree Service to install 64 street trees to replace those that had to be removed because of blight or other failures in the Sunbury Mills neighborhood.  They are primarily in an area where all of the street trees had be removed.  We are planting a diversity of trees to avoid a monoculture blight like the one that caused the previously mentioned trees to die.  They are also trees appropriately sized for the tree lawns to avoid damage to sidewalks.  We will do our best to keep residents informed of this project, the first indication of the work will be the marking of underground utilities with paint and flags.  Please do not remove these important markers until the tree has been planted.  The landscaping plan for this fall tree planting project is linked below.

Sunbury has been recognized as a Tree City USA community by the Arbor Day Foundation.  One of our responsibilities in that program is to replace the public trees as they are removed.  This project is our 2021 effort to maintain that certification.
