Plant Operator/Worker I

WWTP

 The Cityof Sunbury has an opportunity in our  Waste Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) for the position of Plant Operator/Worker I:                         

 Full-Time Entry Level Range  $18-21.90/hr.

 

The position reports directly to the WWTP Supervisor and covers all aspects of wastewater plant and collections systems including: equipment maintenance, lab and collections system duties, Vac Con truck operations, checking and maintaining lift stations, sewer inspections, basic record-keeping, sewer line marking and locates.

 The qualified applicant(s) need to have a working knowledge of underground utilities, grounds/building maintenance, ability to operate equipment such as back-hoe, skid-steer, tractor and mowers, have effective communications skills for dealing with employees and the public, have or be able to attain a Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with tank endorsement within six (6) months. The applicant(s) must be self-starters with a positive attitude and ability to plan and carry out tasks independently. Willingness to attain a Class I or higher Wastewater Treatment Certification Operator Class 1 or 2 is preferred.

 Minimum Qualifications:   High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent certificate with at least three (3) years’ relevant experience.

 Compensation Range: $18 to 21.90 per hour plus excellent benefits

 Work Schedule: FULL-TIME-Five (5) days, forty (40) hours per week.  Shifts will include weekends to maintain plant coverage. Must be available for emergency call-ins including weekends/holidays and able to work in adverse weather conditions.
